I think the driver made it the whole block, but I didn’t see that.
At least this was on the “right” side of the street, but one reason why you risk getting a ticket for parking “backwards” on a one-way street such as Fell is that your parking job might lead others astray. All those cars parked from your perspective the “wrong way” that you’re passing are your giant clues that you’re driving the wrong way.
Unless you’re doing this on purpose, then OK fine I guess.
Now Melvin Belli, 25-30-something years ago, you’d see him driving his gold Rolls Royce through the Financial with California yellow and blue license plates marked “TIBET,” on the actual streets but also on the smaller alleys, the WRONG WAY.
That was totally on purpose don’t you know, no ambiguity there. Hadn’t seen this kind of thing before so the first time I was totally startled. I was like, “‘TIBET,’ huh?” Then I was like OK fine I guess.
